How to Control the Frequency of Pop-up Messages on Your Website?

To help you provide a smoother customer experience, Willdesk now supports customized frequency control for welcome pop-up messages. This means you can decide how often the pop-up appears after a visitor closes it.


❓What does this feature do?

When a customer visits your website and closes the welcome pop-up, it won’t appear again for a period you set—from as short as 0 seconds to as long as 7 days.

This helps you:

1. Avoid overloading repeat visitors with the same message

2. Maintain a clean, non-intrusive experience

3. Control engagement timing more precisely

⚠️Note: If the visitor clears their browser cache, the pop-up will be shown again the next time they visit.



❓How can I set the pop-up frequency?

Option 1: Live Chat Settings

a. Go to Live Chat > Show welcome pop-upere, you can:

b. Enable or disable the welcome message

c. Set how long it takes to show after page load

d. Set how long it should stay hidden after being closed (e.g., 1 hour, 1 day, up to 7 days)



Option 2: Add Pop-up Message in Automation Workflow

a. Go to Automation → Workflow > Create or Edit Rule

b. Add the "Pop-up message" action

c. Enter the time range (e.g., 1 hour, 3 days, 7 days) that the pop-up should stay hidden after being closed by the visitor

✅ Tip: When both options are active, Workflow settings will override the Live Chat setting.
